A-V Fistula
This is a procedure done for patients suffering from permanent kidney damage, undergoing dialysis. An artificial connection is made in the forearm or arm by a plastic surgeon, which ensures higher blood flow rates in the veins which is helpful for dialysis.
It takes about 6 weeks after surgery for the fistula to mature and be ready for use for dialysis. Your nephrologist and plastic surgeon will provide the necessary information for the same.
